Inspiration photos

There are very few places as inspiring as the desert southwest. Every day, I travel, hike and rock climb through these awe-inspiring corridors of time, filled with deep shadows and harsh light. As we move into spring and the summer months, I am excited to start a new series of paintings that will explore this landscape through an abstract lens. Below are inspiration photos for these paintings, ones that I have taken over the years. While I’m not sure which photos I’ll ultimately use for this small collection, I will create preliminary thumbnail sketches to identify key features, colors, and shapes. I have a few 20 x 20” canvases in my storage that will serve as the starting point for this journey. I'm sooooo looking forward to beginning this project!
